Today is National Child Day 🎉While we celebrate the incredible potential of the youth in our community every day, Monday evenings are particularly special. On Monday’s at 4:30 youth begin arriving to participate in a youth empowerment project called “ImpactNOW!Facilitated by Rise Academy in collaboration with Carlington Community Health Centre, youth are fed, engaged and inspired to learn. This is so important in a community where nearly 18% of youth don’t graduate high school (2021 data). Most participants are working towards one or more high school credits. Several youth are employed and we hope to employ more, thanks to financial support from TELUS Friendly Future FoundationEvery week more neighbourhood youth ask to participate. If you want to help us to offer a second group of eager learners, we would gratefully accept your donationcaldwellfamilycentre.ca/financial-gift/#nationalchildrensday #youthempowerment #passion #or #passionproject #learning #LearningIsFun #ideas #matter #IdeasMatter ... The Global Day of Giving is almost here! Mark your calendars for December 3rd and make the Caldwell Family Centre your choice for giving this year. There are 5 good reasons why your support will have an immediate impact on the work we do and by extension, on the lives of your neighbours.1. We cook and serve up to 500 breakfasts and lunches five days a week to anyone in need, so people are healthier.2. We partner with Rise Academy and Carlington Community Health Centre to deliver a program that engages youth to finish school, imagine a bright future and develop leadership skills in an area where 18% of kids drop out of high school.3. We provide food twice a month for over 800 neighbourhood households to help alleviate some of the terrible impacts of ongoing food insecurity.4. We do everything possible to rescue, reuse and transform as much good food as we can before it hits the landfill.5. In partnership with Nutrition Blocs our kitchen cooked and delivered 30,000 afterschool dinners to children attending City programs in “priority” neighbourhoods; in six weeks last summer ensured 13,000 hot meals were served at City day camps because when children are well nourished they are ready to learn, play and grow.Join us on December 3rd!#givingtuesday #dayofgiving #dayofkindness #sharing #donateforabetterOttawa #food #foodismedicine🌱 ...
